OAA boys basketball selects all-league teams
Coaches from the Oakland Activities Association announced their boys basketball all-league teams on Monday night. Unbeaten OAA division champions North Farmington (Red) and Harper Woods (Gold) had a league-best four players chosen first team in their divisions. North Farmington captured the Red championship, Groves and West Bloomfield shared the White, Seaholm edged Berkley in the Blue and Harper Woods ran away with the Gold.

OAA releases girls basketball all-league teams
The Oakland Activities Association selected its all-league teams on Monday night, with division champions West Bloomfield, North Farmington and Bloomfield Hills leading the way with a combined 12 first-team selections. The Lakers, Raiders and Black Hawks were each undefeated in league play.

Seaholm boys edge Athens to claim OAA Blue hoops title
Birmingham Seaholm edged Troy Athens, 42-41, to win the OAA Blue championship on March 2. Jeff Sheldon hit the game-winning 3 pointer with seven seconds left on the clock to help the Maples finish 9-3 in league play. The Lake Orion boys swim team topped the competition at the OAA White division league meet on Feb. 24, winning three individual events and finishing top three in 12 to top runner-up Farmington. Groves boys claim Oakland County swim championship
The Birmingham Groves boys swim team captured the 2023 Oakland County Swim and Dive Championship on Saturday, Feb. 4, at Royal Oak Middle School. The Falcons won a pair of events, including the final 400 yard freestyle relay (Zach Lezovich, Asa Allen, Angus MacDonald and Ian Duncan) to finish with 269 points, beating out rival Seaholm (233).

Royal Oak's Pam Moore voted Oakland County AD of the Year
The Oakland County Athletic Director's Association recently hosted its annual holiday luncheon recently, honoring and awarding members for their services to their programs and the leagues they represent.
There were three awards given out, voted on by their peers. Those awards included the Athletic Director of the Year, the Distinguished Service Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

OAA’s best rewarded with MHSFCA all-state nods
The Michigan High School Football Coaches’ Association (MHSFCA) unveiled its 2022 all-state teams and a good number of Oakland Activities Association players were rewarded for their efforts on the gridiron this fall.

Adams tops Rockford for first boys state soccer title since 1999
Rochester Adams capped off a magical season, defeating Rockford, 2-0, Saturday to claim its first boys soccer state championship since 1999. Jackson Craft and Matthew Vostriakov each scored a goal for the Highlanders, who handed the Rams their only loss of the season. John Coon made three saves to pick up the shutout in goal for Adams (17-1-6). The Highlanders played one of the toughest schedules in the state, playing eight top-10 ranked teams in Division 1.

Rochester bests Berkley for OAA White volleyball title
In a battle of OAA White unbeatens, Rochester knocked off Berkley, 3-1, to capture the division championship on Oct. 20 at Rochester High School. The Falcons finished an unbeaten 8-0 in league play. In fact, all three Rochester HS volleyball teams finished unbeaten in league play. Berkley was runner-up with a 7-1 record in league play, followed by Troy Athens (6-2) and West Bloomfield (5-3). Berkley cruises to OAA Blue boys cross country title
Berkley's top five runners all finished among the top 11 at the third and final OAA Blue jamboree at Hess Hathaway Park on Oct. 18, helping the Bears clinch the divisional championship. Berkley won all three jamborees, while North Farmington finished second at each. Senior Matthew Short and junior Oliver Moss finished top five individually at all three jamborees to lead the Bears. Avondale senior Ethan Pruzinsky was the individual winner at all three races.

Southfield A&T volleyball achieves perfection in winning the OAA Blue
Southfield A&T defeated Pontiac, 3-0, on Oct. 18, capping off a perfect OAA Blue season and capturing the division title. The Warriors finished 10-0, dropping just a single set the entire league season. Ferndale finished second in the division at 8-2, while Ferndale University - the only team to take a set off A&T - was third at 6-4.

Five flight winners leads Bloomfield Hills to another boys state tennis title
The Bloomfield Hills boys tennis team used its superior depth to roll past the competition, winning the school's fourth state tennis over the past eight years on Oct. 15 at Hope College in Holland. Senior Daniel Stoyanov and freshman Connor Shaya won flight titles at Nos. 2 and 4 singles and the doubles teams of Pierce Shaya and Merrick Chernett (No. 1), Michael Dillon and Ryan Rose (No. 2) and Kierth Lingam and Dominic Pascarella (No. 4) were also victorious. The Black Hawks finished with 35 team points. Northville (25) was runner-up, followed by Troy (24). Rochester (13 points) tied for sixth overall, while Adams (eighth), Stoney Creek (10th) and Troy Athens (14th) also fared well.

Adams rolls past the field to claim D1 golf state championship
The Rochester Adams golf team entered the Division 1 Golf Finals as the No. 3 ranked team in the state. But the Highlanders left no doubt who was No. 1 at Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek, with the team rolling past the field to claim the school's first-ever state championship on Oct. 15. Senior Grace Wang (149), junior Katie Fodale (151) and junior Laura Liu (152) all finished among the top six individuals to lead the way. Adams shot a 629 team score, besting Brighton (676) and Rochester (681) among the top three. Troy Athens (7th) and Troy (8th) finished top 10, while Farmington (17th) also had a strong showing. Southfield A&T football finishes atop OAA White with 5-0 record
The Southfield A&T football squad defeated Oak Park, 35-12, on Oct. 7, capping off an unbeaten OAA White season - winning the league title with a perfect 5-0 record. The Warriors outscored their league foes 209-69 this fall. The team finished the regular season with a 7-2 overall record. (CLICK TO SEE PHOTO)

Stoney Creek caps off OAA White tennis title with tourney win
The Stoney Creek boys tennis team rolled to the OAA White championship, cruising past the field to capture the tournament championship at West Bloomfield and North Farmington high schools on Sept. 29. The Cougars won six of the eight flight championships (three in singles and three in doubles) in scoring 46 points. West Bloomfield and Berkley each totaled 28 points, followed by Clarkston (24), North Farmington (21) and Lake Orion (21).

Farmington wins OAA Blue tennis title
The Farmington boys tennis team won the OAA Blue tennis championship, winning the regular-season title and sharing the league tournament championship with Royal Oak on Sept. 28. The Falcons and Ravens each finished with 41 points. Royal Oak won four flight championships, Farmington two and Avondale, which finished third overall, also claimed two. Farmington finished a perfect 5-0 in league matches, with the Ravens and Yellow Jackets tying for second.

Adams wins Oakland County D1, OAA Red championships at Fieldstone
Rochester Adams captured the program's first-ever Oakland County championship, beating out top-five contenders South Lyon, Rochester, Cranbrook and Troy Athens at Fieldstone Golf Club on Sept. 28. Senior Grace Wang was the tournament medalist to lead the Highlanders. Teammate Laura Liu, finished tied for fourth overall with Rochester's Madison Yang. Troy senior Riley Hayden and Troy Athens senior Olivia Hemmila tied for second place. The tournament also served as an OAA Red competition, and with the win, Adams clinched the league championship as well.

Senior Olivia Hemmila earned medalist honors to lead Troy Athens to the win at the second OAA White division league meet on Sept. 22. Oxford takes down the field at Oakland County D2 golf tourney
The Oxford girls golf team topped the field at the Oakland County Division 2 Tournament at the Links at Crystal Lake in Pontiac on Aug. 31. The Wildcats shot a team score of 329, beating out 18 other teams. Wixom St. Catherine was runner-up, 15 shots back. Royal Oak and West Bloomfield also finished among the top-10 teams. Oxford's Keira Billis finished tied atop the individuals with a round of 76. Her teammates Katherine Pill and Ellie Gieselman were also top-10, as was Royal Oak's Gillian Iles. Senior Olivia Hemmila earned medalist honors to lead Troy Athens to the win at the second OAA White division league meet on Sept. 22. The win, coupled with an unbeaten regular season in dual matches, helped the Red Hawks earn the OAA White championship. Clarkston was runner-up, followed by Oxford, Stoney Creek, Farmington, Groves and North Farmington. Senior Daniel Stoyanov and freshman Connor Shaya won flight titles at Nos. 2 and 4 singles and the doubles teams of Pierce Shaya and Merrick Chernett (No. 1), Michael Dillon and Ryan Rose (No. 2) and Kierth Lingam and Dominic Pascarella (No. 4) were also victorious. The Black Hawks finished with 35 team points. Northville (25) was runner-up, followed by Troy (24). Rochester (13 points) tied for sixth overall, while Adams (eighth), Stoney Creek (10th) and Troy Athens (14th) also fared well.

Adams rolls past the field to claim D1 golf state championship
The Rochester Adams golf team entered the Division 1 Golf Finals as the No. 3 ranked team in the state. But the Highlanders left no doubt who was No. 1 at Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek, with the team rolling past the field to claim the school's first-ever state championship on Oct. 15. Senior Grace Wang (149), junior Katie Fodale (151) and junior Laura Liu (152) all finished among the top six individuals to lead the way. Adams shot a 629 team score, besting Brighton (676) and Rochester (681) among the top three. Troy Athens (7th) and Troy (8th) finished top 10, while Farmington (17th) also had a strong showing. Southfield A&T football finishes atop OAA White with 5-0 record
The Southfield A&T football squad defeated Oak Park, 35-12, on Oct. 7, capping off an unbeaten OAA White season - winning the league title with a perfect 5-0 record. Stoney Creek caps off OAA White tennis title with tourney win
The Stoney Creek boys tennis team rolled to the OAA White championship, cruising past the field to capture the tournament championship at West Bloomfield and North Farmington high schools on Sept. 29. The Cougars won six of the eight flight championships (three in singles and three in doubles) in scoring 46 points. West Bloomfield and Berkley each totaled 28 points, followed by Clarkston (24), North Farmington (21) and Lake Orion (21).

Farmington wins OAA Blue tennis title
The Farmington boys tennis team won the OAA Blue tennis championship, winning the regular-season title and sharing the league tournament championship with Royal Oak on Sept. 28. The Falcons and Ravens each finished with 41 points. Royal Oak won four flight championships, Farmington two and Avondale, which finished third overall, also claimed two. Farmington finished a perfect 5-0 in league matches, with the Ravens and Yellow Jackets tying for second.

Adams wins Oakland County D1, OAA Red championships at Fieldstone
Rochester Adams captured the program's first-ever Oakland County championship, beating out top-five contenders South Lyon, Rochester, Cranbrook and Troy Athens at Fieldstone Golf Club on Sept. 28. Senior Grace Wang was the tournament medalist to lead the Highlanders. Teammate Laura Liu, finished tied for fourth overall with Rochester's Madison Yang. Troy senior Riley Hayden and Troy Athens senior Olivia Hemmila tied for second place. The tournament also served as an OAA Red competition, and with the win, Adams clinched the league championship as well.

Athens wraps up OAA White golf title with league tournament win
Senior Olivia Hemmila earned medalist honors to lead Troy Athens to the win at the second OAA White division league meet on Sept. 22. The win, coupled with an unbeaten regular season in dual matches, helped the Red Hawks earn the OAA White championship. Clarkston was runner-up, followed by Oxford, Stoney Creek, Farmington, Groves and North Farmington. Earning all league honors were Hemmila and teammates Ava Weeks and Amelia Lin, Elin Gebrowsky (Clarkston), Mae Norman (Clarkston), Alexandria Lecureux (Clarkston), Katarin Fisher (Clarkston), Lauren Fishtahler (Clarkston), Ellie Giesilman (Oxford), Keira Bills (Oxford), Katie Pill (Oxford), Gabi Wait (Oxford), Venetia Chap (Farmington), Lucy Kent (Farmington) and Marisa Kelly (Stoney Creek).

Oxford takes down the field at Oakland County D2 golf tourney
The Oxford girls golf team topped the field at the Oakland County Division 2 Tournament at the Links at Crystal Lake in Pontiac on Aug. 31. The Wildcats shot a team score of 329, beating out 18 other teams. Wixom St. Catherine was runner-up, 15 shots back. Royal Oak and West Bloomfield also finished among the top-10 teams. Oxford's Keira Billis finished tied atop the individuals with a round of 76. Her teammates Katherine Pill and Ellie Gieselman were also top-10, as was Royal Oak's Gillian Iles.
